Former Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) president, Emeka Rollas, has publicly apologised to actress Regina Daniels, her family, Senator Ned Nwoko and fellow Nollywood stars over statements he made during the actress’s marital crisis.
Rollas tendered the apology in a recent post on his Instagram page, expressing regret over the timing, platform and manner in which he addressed the controversy.
The apology comes nearly a year after the former AGN president publicly claimed that Regina Daniels had abused substances on movie sets, a statement that generated widespread reactions within the Nigerian entertainment industry.
At the time, Rollas maintained that the actress needed help and mentioned veteran actors Jide Kosoko, Charles Inojie, Okey Bakassi and other prominent Nollywood personalities whom he claimed had witnessed the alleged behaviour.
His comments attracted criticism, with Regina Daniels questioning his remarks and suggesting that something was wrong with him. The actress also accused Rollas of financial misconduct, further escalating the public disagreement between the two entertainment industry figures.
Emeka Rollas Expresses Regret
In his latest statement, Rollas acknowledged that the way he handled the situation was inappropriate, particularly because the family was going through a difficult personal period.
He admitted that he regretted the timing of his intervention, the platform he used and the manner in which he made the statements.
According to him, the circumstances surrounding the family crisis should have been handled differently, rather than through public comments that brought additional attention to an already sensitive situation.
Rollas subsequently offered an unconditional apology to Regina Daniels, her mother, Rita Daniels, the wider family, Senator Ned Nwoko, the AGN Board of Trustees and the colleagues whose names he mentioned during the controversy.
He stressed that his apology came without excuses or conditions, acknowledging that he had made a mistake.
The former AGN president also described himself as human, admitting that he was capable of making errors in judgment.
A Controversy That Drew Nollywood Into the Spotlight
The disagreement attracted considerable public attention because it involved a prominent Nollywood actress, a serving senator and a former leader of the Actors Guild of Nigeria.
The controversy also brought other well-known actors into the discussion after their names were mentioned in connection with Rollas’ earlier allegations.
His latest apology marks a significant development in the public dispute, although it remains unclear whether Regina Daniels or her family has formally responded to the apology.
The development has renewed attention on the responsibilities of public figures when commenting on sensitive personal matters, particularly when such statements involve allegations that can affect reputations and family relationships.
For now, Rollas has publicly acknowledged his regret and apologized to the individuals affected by his earlier remarks. Whether the apology will lead to a reconciliation between the parties remains to be seen.
