Episode 1: The First Knock

It was exactly 2:13 AM when I heard the knock.

Three slow taps.

Knock… Knock… Knock.

I sat up in bed, confused. My small apartment was silent except for the faint humming of the refrigerator in the kitchen.

I checked my phone.

2:13 AM.

Who could possibly be knocking at this hour?

My name is Daniel, and I had lived alone in that apartment in Lagos for nearly a year. The neighborhood was quiet, mostly office workers and small families. Nothing strange ever happened there.

Until that night.

I held my breath and listened.

Nothing.

Maybe I imagined it.

Just as I was about to lie back down—

Knock… Knock… Knock.

This time louder.

My heart began to race.

I walked slowly to the door, my feet cold against the tiled floor. The corridor light outside usually shone through the gap under the door, but tonight it was dark.

I cleared my throat.

“Who is there?”

No answer.

I peered through the peephole.

No one.

The hallway was completely empty.

I hesitated before unlocking the door and opening it slightly.

The corridor stretched quietly in both directions.

No footsteps. No sound.

Just silence.

Then I noticed something on the floor.

A small brown envelope.

And written on it were three chilling words:

“DON’T OPEN THE DOOR.”

To be continued.
