Episode 1: The Surprise Visit

Daniel told me he was traveling.

“A business trip,” he said casually on the phone.

“Three days… maybe four.”

Normally I would believe him. But something about the way he said it felt strange. Too quick. Too rehearsed.

And then there was the background noise during the call — music… laughter… and a woman’s voice.

When I asked about it, he simply said, “It’s the airport lounge.”

But my heart didn’t believe him.

For two nights, I couldn’t sleep.

Finally, I made a decision.

If he was truly out of town, I would simply go back home the same day… or find a small hotel nearby and return the next morning.

But if he was lying…

I needed to know.

So early Saturday morning, I packed a small bag and traveled to his apartment.

The journey felt longer than usual. My thoughts kept running wild.

What if I’m overthinking?

What if he’s really not home?

What if… I discover something I can’t handle?

When I finally reached his compound, my heart was pounding so hard I could hear it.

I walked slowly to his door.

Everything was quiet.

I knocked.

Once.

Twice.

Footsteps.

My chest tightened.

The door opened.

And there she was.

A girl.

Beautiful. Calm. Wearing Daniel’s oversized shirt.

She looked at me with confusion.

“Who are you?” she asked.

My brain froze for a moment.

Then the first lie that came to my mind slipped out.

“I’m his sister.”

The girl frowned slightly.

“Sister?” she repeated.

Then she opened the door wider.

“Oh… come in.”

My heart nearly stopped.

Because behind her…

I could hear Daniel’s voice coming from the bedroom.

“Babe… who is at the door?”

The girl turned and shouted casually,

“Your sister!”

Silence.

Then I heard something crash inside the room.

And suddenly…

Daniel appeared at the hallway.

The moment our eyes met…

The color drained completely from his face.

To be continued.
