Former Senate Chief Whip, Ali Ndume, has expressed joy over the safe release of more than 400 victims who had been held captive since March 3, 2026.
Speaking on the development, Ndume described the release as encouraging and commended all those who contributed to securing the victims’ freedom.

“The over 400 victims have been in captivity since March 3, 2026, and I am very much happy to hear the good news of their safe release,” he said.
The senator specifically praised Babagana Zulum for his relentless efforts in rebuilding Ngoshe community and for his continuous support to the military and victims affected by insurgency in the state.
Ndume also appreciated the Director-General of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Hajiya Zubaida Umar, for facilitating the distribution of relief materials to displaced persons.
“My appreciation also goes to the Director-General of NEMA, Hajiya Zubaida Umar, for the release of relief materials to the displaced people,” he stated.
However, the lawmaker called on the military and other security agencies to intensify efforts toward rescuing more than 40 pupils and students recently abducted from schools in Mussa village, located in Askira-Uba, as well as many other victims still being held captive by insurgents.

“I urge the military and other security agencies to intensify efforts in rescuing the over 40 pupils/students who were recently abducted at their schools in Mussa village of Askira-Uba Local Government Area and many others still in captivity,” Ndume added.
He further appealed to the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs to complement the efforts of the Borno State Government in rebuilding Ngoshe and other communities devastated by the activities of Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists.
According to Ndume, sustained humanitarian support and reconstruction efforts remain essential to restoring normalcy in communities affected by years of insurgency in northeastern Nigeria.
