Episode 3: The Voice in the Dark
Darkness filled the room.
My wife’s phone stopped ringing immediately.
But mine didn’t.
I pressed the phone slowly to my ear.
At first, there was nothing.
Then I heard it.
Breathing.
Slow.
Heavy.
My hands began to shake.
Then a faint crackling sound followed.
And suddenly, a weak voice whispered:
“Help…”
The call ended instantly.
The room became silent.
I checked the screen.
No number.
No record.
My wife stared at me.
“What did you hear?”
I hesitated before answering.
“A voice,” I said.
“What did it say?”
“It said… help.”
A cold wind suddenly moved the curtain.
For the first time since this started—
I felt truly afraid.
The next morning, there was a knock on our door.
When I opened it, my friend was standing there.
He walked in slowly.
“Did the call come again?” he asked.
My wife nodded.
“It did.”
“And I heard a voice,” I added.
“It sounded like a woman.”
Something strange flashed across his face.
Just for a moment.
Then it disappeared.
“I’ll stay tonight,” he said.
“I want to hear the call myself.”
Something about his voice felt different.
But I didn’t question it.
Later that evening, he returned carrying a small black bag.
To be continued!
