Episode 3: The Voice in the Dark

Darkness filled the room.

My wife’s phone stopped ringing immediately.

But mine didn’t.

I pressed the phone slowly to my ear.

At first, there was nothing.

Then I heard it.

Breathing.

Slow.

Heavy.

My hands began to shake.

Then a faint crackling sound followed.

And suddenly, a weak voice whispered:

“Help…”

The call ended instantly.

The room became silent.

I checked the screen.

No number.

No record.

My wife stared at me.

“What did you hear?”

I hesitated before answering.

“A voice,” I said.

“What did it say?”

“It said… help.”

A cold wind suddenly moved the curtain.

For the first time since this started—

I felt truly afraid.

The next morning, there was a knock on our door.

When I opened it, my friend was standing there.

He walked in slowly.

“Did the call come again?” he asked.

My wife nodded.

“It did.”

“And I heard a voice,” I added.

“It sounded like a woman.”

Something strange flashed across his face.

Just for a moment.

Then it disappeared.

“I’ll stay tonight,” he said.

“I want to hear the call myself.”

Something about his voice felt different.

But I didn’t question it.

Later that evening, he returned carrying a small black bag.
