Episode 5: The Others
At first, you don’t notice them.
Not fully.
Because your mind refuses to accept what it’s seeing.
You walk past the first streetlight.
You glance up—
And you see someone.
Standing perfectly still.
You think they’re just a person.
Maybe a neighbor.
Maybe someone outside for fresh air.
But then you walk to the next one.
And the next.
And the next.
And they’re all the same.
Different faces.
Different bodies.
But the same expression.
The same stillness.
The same… emptiness.
Then one of them moves.
Just slightly.
And that’s when the truth hits you.
They’re not standing there.
They’re trapped.
Like insects in glass.
I tried to speak to them when I first arrived.
But sound doesn’t work here.
Not the way it should.
Instead—
You feel them.
Their fear.
Their exhaustion.
Their desperation.
And one thought passes between all of us:
“Don’t let it replace you.”
But it’s already too late for most of us.
Because some lights…
Are empty.
Waiting.
And every time a new voice is heard—
One of those lights fills.
To be continued…
