Former Super Eagles forward Michael Eneramo has tragically passed away after collapsing during a football match in Kaduna State.
The 40-year-old ex-international was playing at the Angwan Yelwa pitch in the Television area of Kaduna on Friday when the incident occurred. According to eyewitness accounts, Eneramo had come on as a second-half substitute and was actively involved in the game before suddenly slumping to the ground without any physical contact from another player.
Efforts to revive him on the pitch proved unsuccessful. “He slumped and died right on the spot. Attempts to resuscitate him did not work,” a source at the scene revealed.

Eneramo was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where medical personnel confirmed his death.
The shocking incident has sent waves of grief through the Nigerian football community, with fans and former colleagues expressing disbelief over the sudden loss.
Eneramo enjoyed a distinguished football career that spanned several countries. He featured prominently for top clubs including Beşiktaş J.K. in Turkey, Espérance Sportive de Tunis in Tunisia—where he achieved notable success—and Lobi Stars F.C. in Nigeria. Known for his strength and goal-scoring ability, he also earned caps with the Nigerian national team during his active years.
