The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ebonyi State Command, has intercepted a total of 134.483 kilograms of illicit drugs across various parts of the state in the last quarter of 2025.
State Commander, Jude Ahamefule, disclosed this in Abakaliki, noting that the command also arrested 157 suspected drug dealers, comprising 123 males and 34 females, aged between 14 and 84 years.

According to him, the seized substances include:

Cannabis – 106.978kg

Tramadol (100mg) – 1.407kg

Tramadol (225mg) – 0.066kg

Diazepam – 700 tablets (0.161kg)

Co-codamol – 342 tablets (0.231kg)

Ergometrine injection – 90 ampoules (0.109kg)
Other recovered drugs include:

Phenobarbitone syrup – 480ml (0.550kg)

Phenobarbitone tablets – 0.102kg

Bromazepam – 459 tablets (0.268kg)

Ahamefule further revealed that the command secured six convictions involving male suspects aged between 22 and 55, while four individuals were successfully rehabilitated and discharged within the period under review.

He added that 44 suspects, aged between 19 and 65, were referred to the NDLEA counselling unit for treatment and rehabilitation.
The commander also highlighted the agency’s preventive efforts, noting that 11 sensitization campaigns were conducted across schools, religious organisations, and communities in Ebonyi State.
While reaffirming the agency’s commitment to combating drug abuse, Ahamefule appealed to the government, corporate organisations, and philanthropists to support the command with operational vehicles to enhance patrol and surveillance across the state.
