Africa’s leading industrialist and President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has been named among the world’s most influential figures in the 2026 TIME100 list, reaffirming his global impact in business and development.

The annual list, released by TIME Magazine on April 15, recognises individuals shaping the future across politics, business, technology, and culture. This year’s edition features prominent world leaders including U.S. President Donald Trump, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, and Pope Leo XIV. Technology leaders such as Google CEO Sundar Pichai and YouTube CEO Neal Mohan were also honoured.

Dangote, who is the only Nigerian on the 2026 list, was named in the prestigious “Titans” category, which recognises global business leaders with significant influence on the world economy.

This marks his second appearance on the TIME100 list, having first been honoured in 2014 for his contributions to business and philanthropy.

According to TIME, Dangote earned his place through his continued role in driving industrialisation across Africa. The publication highlighted his extensive investments spanning cement production, agriculture, food processing, infrastructure, and energy, as well as his commitment to building globally competitive industries using local resources.

The magazine also pointed to his recent large-scale investments, particularly in manufacturing and energy, as key factors reinforcing his influence beyond the African continent.

Beyond his business achievements, Dangote was recognised for his philanthropic contributions through the Aliko Dangote Foundation, which supports initiatives in healthcare, education, and economic empowerment across Africa.

Meanwhile, Dangote Industries Limited has unveiled an ambitious long-term strategy tagged “Vision 2030,” aimed at expanding its global footprint and scaling operations. The growth plan focuses on consolidating its existing businesses in cement, fertiliser, and energy, while exploring new investments in steel production, power generation, and port infrastructure.

Other notable figures named in the 2026 TIME100 list include entertainment personalities such as Ranbir Kapoor, Dakota Johnson, and Kate Hudson, reflecting the diverse range of individuals shaping global conversations and progress.

Dangote’s inclusion once again underscores his enduring influence, not only as a business magnate but also as a key driver of Africa’s economic transformation on the global stage.
