Jordan Henderson and João Pedro score braces as Chelsea secure a convincing Premier League victory at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion on Saturday, October 10, 2026, recording a commanding 5-1 victory over Bournemouth in the English Premier League at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues produced a blistering attacking performance, with Jordan Henderson and João Pedro scoring twice each, while Morgan Rogers also found the net to complete a memorable afternoon for manager Xabi Alonso’s side. The result lifted Chelsea to fifth place in the league standings.

Chelsea wasted little time establishing their dominance, taking the lead after just 66 seconds. Henderson fired a powerful effort past Bournemouth goalkeeper Djordje Petrović following an assist from Cole Palmer, giving the hosts an early advantage.
The home side doubled their lead shortly afterwards when Rogers found the net in the third minute. Henderson turned provider, setting up the attacking midfielder, whose effort took a deflection off Bournemouth defender António Silva before crossing the goal line.
The two early goals put Chelsea firmly in control, allowing Alonso’s men to dictate the tempo as Bournemouth struggled to contain their opponents’ attacking threat.
Despite the hosts’ dominance, Bournemouth attempted to respond before the interval. However, Chelsea maintained their two-goal cushion heading into the break.
The Blues resumed the second half with the same intensity, extending their advantage within a minute of the restart. João Pedro finished clinically after a fine piece of work from Pedro Neto, leaving Bournemouth with a difficult task to get back into the contest.
The visitors eventually pulled a goal back in the 51st minute through Evanilson, who bundled the ball into the net following a corner that created confusion inside Chelsea’s penalty area.
The goal briefly offered Bournemouth hope of mounting a comeback, but Chelsea quickly reasserted their superiority.
In the 67th minute, João Pedro completed his brace, converting a low cross from Pep Chavarría to restore Chelsea’s three-goal advantage and put the result beyond Bournemouth’s reach.
Henderson then delivered the finishing touch in the 70th minute, scoring a spectacular free-kick from approximately 25 yards to complete his own brace and seal Chelsea’s impressive 5-1 triumph.
The victory represented a timely response from Chelsea following their defeat to Brentford before the international break. The performance also offered encouragement to Alonso as he continues to build consistency within his squad.

Henderson’s contribution stood out, with the experienced midfielder scoring twice and providing an assist, while João Pedro’s double further underlined his importance to Chelsea’s attacking ambitions.
For Bournemouth, the defeat extended their difficult start to the league campaign, with the visitors still searching for their first Premier League victory of the season.
Chelsea will now turn their attention to their upcoming fixtures, hoping to build on the confidence gained from this convincing performance and maintain their push towards the top end of the Premier League table.
