The Osun State Police Command has deployed tactical units to parts of Osogbo following a resurgence of cult-related violence in the metropolis.
The deployment is particularly focused on the Owo-Eba and Arowomole areas, where recent incidents have raised concerns over public safety.
The latest incident occurred on Sunday at Arowomole, where suspected cultists reportedly shot a man identified as Rasaq Wahab, popularly known as “Ojo Iku.”
Police authorities said Wahab was immediately evacuated to a hospital, where he is currently receiving medical treatment and responding well.

The shooting came only days after a violent clash in the Owo-Eba area on Friday, which reportedly resulted in the deaths of Adebayo Taoreed, popularly known as “Small Rugged,” and Oluwaseyi Daniel, also known as “OSHA.”
Several other persons were reportedly injured in the clash.
In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Zungura, described the recurring violence as deeply disturbing and ordered tactical teams to relocate to the Oke-Baale axis until normalcy is fully restored.
The Commissioner directed the tactical units to conduct intelligence-led raids on criminal hideouts and identified cult hotspots, while operating within the provisions of the law.
The Police Command also disclosed that all cases connected to the recent incidents have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, for detailed investigation.
Ojelabi said the Commissioner had further directed area commanders, divisional police officers and tactical commanders to intensify patrols, gather actionable intelligence and maintain a sustained security presence across identified flashpoints within the metropolis.
The Police Command assured residents that the security situation remains under control and urged members of the public to continue with their lawful daily activities without fear.
However, the Command issued a stern warning to cult members, sponsors and sympathisers, stating that no safe haven would be provided for anyone involved in activities capable of threatening public peace.

The Police also appealed to parents, traditional rulers, community leaders and residents to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information about suspicious movements and criminal activities.
Residents were equally urged to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information that could create unnecessary panic.
The Command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property while restoring lasting peace across affected communities in Osogbo.
