The conferment of the prestigious Sardauna of Ilorin Emirate title on Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has been described as a fitting reward for his selfless leadership, humility and outstanding contributions to the development of the state.
The Oloro of Oro Kingdom in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, Oba Joel Olaniyi Oyatoye Titiloye Olufayo II, made the declaration while congratulating Governor AbdulRazaq on his selection and turbaning as Sardauna of the Ilorin Emirate.
In a statement issued on behalf of the Oloro-in-Council and the entire people of Oro Kingdom, Oba Joel Olaniyi Olufayo said the traditional honour was a testament to the governor’s dedication to public service and his commitment to improving the lives of the people of Kwara State.
The monarch commended AbdulRazaq for what he described as his unwavering commitment to the welfare and development of the state, noting that his administration had continued to demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility and responsiveness to the needs of the people.
According to the Oloro, the administration’s decision to allow local government councils to operate with greater independence also reflects the governor’s commitment to strengthening grassroots governance and ensuring that development reaches communities across the state.
Oba Joel Olaniyi Olufayo further noted that the Sardauna title carries significant symbolic meaning, representing the governor’s achievements, leadership qualities and contributions to the growth and development of Kwara State.
He said the honour would further inspire the governor to continue his service to the people and contribute more to the advancement of the state.

The Oloro of Oro also expressed appreciation to the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, for finding Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq worthy of the prestigious traditional title.
He congratulated the governor once again, wishing him continued wisdom, good health and success as he carries the responsibilities associated with the new title.
