After a brief pause, the highly anticipated fourth season of Wura is set to hit screens, with Gbemisola Scarlet Gomez reprising her powerful lead role in what promises to be the series’ most intense chapter yet.
The new season delves deeper into complex themes of power, leadership, justice, and political intrigue, reflecting realities that resonate strongly with everyday life. Fans can expect a more layered portrayal of the titular character, as Scarlet Gomez brings a vulnerable yet fiercer edge to Wura’s persona.
Wura, an adaptation of the acclaimed South African telenovela The River, continues to build on its rich narrative foundation. With six seasons of source material, the show still has significant storylines to explore, keeping audiences hooked with evolving drama and character arcs.
Speaking during a virtual media chat ahead of the premiere, MultiChoice’s Executive Head of Content and Channels for West Africa, Atinuke Babatunde, emphasized the company’s commitment to delivering high-quality, culturally relevant storytelling.

“At MultiChoice, our priority is always very clear; to consistently deliver premium content across our channels with storytelling that reflects the richness of our culture and resonates with our audiences,” Babatunde stated.
She revealed that although Season 4 was initially slated to air exclusively on Africa Magic Showcase, the decision was later made to broaden its reach.
“We said, you know what, why not open it to everybody, because premium content should be viewed and enjoyed by everybody,” she added.
The event also featured key members of the cast and crew, including veteran actor Yomi Fash Lanso and Head Writer Musa Jeffery David, who highlighted the role of audience reception and the depth of the original storyline in sustaining the show’s momentum.
According to David, the strong connection with viewers and the expansive source material have been central to the show’s continued success and renewal.
Wura Season 4 is scheduled to premiere on March 30, 2026, airing weeknights at 8:00 p.m. on Africa Magic Showcase and 8:30 p.m. on Africa Magic Family, accessible on both DStv and GOtv platforms.
With its expanded access and intensified storytelling, the new season is poised to captivate an even wider audience across Africa.
