Nollywood actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, widely known as Baba Ijesha, has publicly denied allegations of rape and paedophilia, insisting that he was lured into the incident that led to his imprisonment.
The actor made the controversial claims during a recent interview with veteran broadcaster Yinka Ayefele on Fresh FM, where he maintained his innocence and described the situation as a “set-up.”
“I am not a paedophile, I am not a rapist. It was destiny that punished me. I did not know the meaning of rapist or paedophile until the controversy,” he said.
Baba Ijesha also rejected allegations that he used a car key in the assault, stating that his side of the story would soon be fully revealed in an upcoming movie project.

Recounting the events of April 21, 2021, the actor claimed he was invited by actress Damilola Adekoya, popularly known as Princess, under the pretense of a film role.
According to him, the invitation included promises of his favorite meal—pounded yam with egusi soup—which he said influenced his decision to honor the call.
“She called me to say she was preparing my favourite food… I never knew it was Kirikiri and Panti prison,” he stated.
He further alleged that upon arrival, he was asked to rehearse a scene with a young girl, believing it was part of a legitimate production. He claimed he was unaware that the entire situation had been staged.
“I never knew they had already ganged up against me. One of them even said she would make sure I don’t come out alive,” he added.
Addressing suggestions that he was lured due to greed or gluttony, Baba Ijesha admitted both may have played a role, along with the promise of financial reward.
“I do not like to snub or disrespect ladies, which is why I agreed to the role. That was how it happened, and God is my witness,” he said.
Despite his claims, the Lagos State High Court in July 2022 found him guilty of sexual assault and indecent treatment of a minor. He was sentenced to five years and three years imprisonment, to run concurrently.
