The actor’s daughter, Kira Hassan, announced the development in an emotional Instagram Live session on Sunday, where she struggled to contain her emotions as she confirmed her father’s death.
“My daddy is dead. I can’t believe it,” she said.
The development was also announced by television platform Emiralty Africa, which expressed sadness over the reported passing of the veteran actor.

Ogogo’s reported death comes amid a difficult period for his family, following his battle with stage-four cancer and the emotional and financial challenges surrounding his treatment.
Daughter Raises Alarm Over Alleged Financial Exploitation
Hours before the reported death, Kira had spoken publicly about the challenges confronting the family while trying to secure appropriate medical care for her father.
During an emotional TikTok Live session on Saturday, she alleged that some individuals were attempting to profit from the family’s difficult circumstances by making financial demands while offering to assist with Ogogo’s treatment.
“My father is a good father. Some people are even trying to make money with us in this whole situation. Fear God,” she said.
According to Kira, some of the amounts allegedly demanded from the family ranged from hundreds of thousands of naira to several thousands of US dollars.
She questioned how the family could continue meeting such demands while simultaneously dealing with the enormous financial burden of Ogogo’s medical treatment.
“Do you want to make us broke? We are not billionaires,” she said.

The situation also appeared to have taken a serious emotional toll on Kira herself.
“I want to check my BP, I am not okay too,” she said during the emotional broadcast.
Family Struggles With Ogogo’s Condition
Kira also spoke about the devastating effect of Ogogo’s illness on members of the family, particularly the actor’s brother, whom she affectionately described as her “big daddy.”
She revealed that members of the family regularly communicated through a group chat where they discussed Ogogo’s condition and monitored developments concerning his health.
According to Kira, she recently came across a message in which her uncle expressed fear over the possibility of losing his brother.
“That was the video my big daddy saw and on the group chat, where we always have our discussion about daddy’s health, I saw my cousin wrote something like, my big daddy was asking, ‘Is Taiye going to die?’” she said.
Kira described the relationship between Ogogo and his brother as exceptionally close, saying members of the family could hardly determine who loved whom more.
“My big daddy and my daddy, we are the children, we don’t even know who they love more. We don’t even know if it is we who are being or themselves. It is too much. My big daddy loves my daddy too much,” she said.
She further expressed fears about how her uncle would cope with Ogogo’s death.
“I am sure my big daddy is not okay, he is not fine. He is not fine. I don’t know,” Kira said.
‘I Don’t Know How I Will See The World Again’
Kira had earlier opened up about the emotional trauma she experienced while watching her father battle cancer.
She revealed that she had taken a break from social media because constantly seeing photographs and videos of her father during his illness had become increasingly difficult.
Speaking about the possibility of losing her father, she said she could not imagine what life would look like without him.
“I don’t know how I will feel. I don’t even know how I will see the world again. If anything happens to my daddy…” she said.
Kira insisted that she was not seeking public sympathy but was simply overwhelmed by the situation.
“Please don’t think I am here to ask for sympathy or anything,” she added.
She explained that she had initially gone online simply to “cool off”, but eventually became emotional because of the deep bond she shared with her father.
“I am so connected to my daddy. Nothing can be okay, ever. He just want the best for everybody. He just want everybody to be okay,” she said.

Taiwo Hassan, widely known as Ogogo, was one of the prominent figures in Yoruba-language Nollywood and built an enduring career as an actor, filmmaker and producer.
