LAGOS, NIGERIA — After more than two decades, one of Nollywood’s most iconic action franchises is set to return to the big screen as Issakaba: The Return arrives in cinemas nationwide on November 13, 2026.
The highly anticipated return comes 25 years after the original Issakaba phenomenon, reigniting memories of the supernatural action franchise while introducing audiences to what promises to be a darker and more sophisticated battle between good and evil.
The new production teases a world where evil has evolved, communities are under threat and death appears to have taken over the streets.
Its central question is one that has lingered for years: Will Issakaba ever return?
The answer is now clear.
Ebube Issakaba is back.
The film’s promotional campaign carries the ominous message: “You can run, but you can’t hide… duty calls!” — setting the tone for a story that appears to combine action, supernatural elements, suspense and the familiar battle against forces of darkness.
According to the promotional material, Issakaba: The Return explores a new era in which evil has taken on “a new face and sophistication,” leaving cities burning and communities trembling.
With darkness reportedly rising beyond control, the return of Issakaba signals the beginning of another dangerous confrontation.
The revival of the franchise is expected to attract both longtime fans who remember the original films and a younger generation discovering the Issakaba legacy for the first time.
The original Issakaba series became a memorable part of Nigerian popular culture, particularly for its distinctive blend of traditional African spirituality, supernatural warfare, action and the fight against criminal forces.
Now, 25 years later, Issakaba: The Return seeks to revive that legacy for a new cinematic generation.
The countdown has officially begun.
