Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have intercepted a Toyota Sienna vehicle allegedly conveying cartons of suspected illicit drugs and military accoutrements.
The operation was carried out on Friday, September 18, 2026, following credible intelligence received by the Command.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, and made available to journalists in Warri on Saturday.
According to the statement, operatives of the Command’s Anti-Cult Unit (CACU), Asaba, mounted surveillance along an anticipated route following information that a Sienna vehicle conveying suspected illicit drugs and military accoutrements was travelling from Onitsha towards Ondo State.

At about 4:50 a.m., the operatives intercepted a green Toyota Sienna with registration number KP 527 AAA, allegedly driven by 45-year-old Isaac Urji, from Abia State.
A search of the vehicle reportedly led to the recovery of cartons containing suspected Tramadol and other suspected illicit drugs, as well as military camouflage uniforms, boots and hats.
The driver was immediately arrested, while police said investigation had commenced to establish the source and intended destination of the recovered items and identify other persons who may be connected to the consignment.

Police Arrest Suspected Cultists in Ika South
In a separate operation, the Delta State Police Command said it arrested two suspected cultists during an intelligence-led operation targeting suspected kidnappers and cultists in Ika South and Aniocha North Local Government Areas.
The Command said operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping Unit (SAKU), Sector III, Ubulu-Uku, acting on intelligence, conducted a covert operation at Alisheme Community, Ika South LGA, on September 18.
The operation reportedly resulted in the arrest of Destiny Okafor, 18, and Sunday Bryan, 22, who police said were suspected to be involved in cultism and kidnapping-related activities.
During preliminary investigation, the suspects allegedly disclosed their membership of the NBM Confraternity, according to the police statement.
Exhibits reportedly recovered from the suspects included one locally fabricated single-barrelled gun, one battle axe, two cutlasses, mobile phones and a laptop.
The suspects remain in police custody as investigation continues.

Four Suspected Cultists Arrested in Issele-Uku
Meanwhile, the police said another operation was conducted on September 15, 2026, following intelligence about suspected cultist activities around Ogboli Quarter and other parts of Issele-Uku.
The Divisional Police Officer, Issele-Uku Division, reportedly mobilised and led a combined team comprising Police Anti-Cult personnel, vigilantes, hunters and Forest Security operatives in a cordon-and-search operation.
The operation resulted in the arrest of four suspected cultists, while the team reportedly recovered two locally made pistols, one pump-action gun and six live cartridges.
Police said investigation into the incident is ongoing.
CP Erale Reaffirms Crackdown on Criminal Activities
The Commissioner of Police in Delta State, CP Samuel Erale, has reiterated the Command’s determination to sustain intelligence-led operations against kidnapping, cultism and the proliferation of illegal firearms across the state.
The Commissioner also urged members of the public to continue providing credible information to the police.
He assured residents that information supplied to the Command would be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
The Delta State Police Command said the latest operations form part of its ongoing efforts to disrupt criminal networks and improve security across the state.
