MINNA, NIGER STATE — Niger State Governor, Umaru Bago, has imposed a 24-hour curfew across Minna, the state capital, following unrest reported in parts of the metropolis.
The curfew takes effect immediately after Friday’s Jumu’ah prayers and will remain in force until further notice.
Under the directive, residents are required to remain indoors and avoid all unnecessary movement throughout the period.
Security agencies have been ordered to enforce the curfew and take necessary measures to protect lives and property across Minna.
The development followed Thursday’s protest and unrest reportedly linked to the deaths of suspected illegal miners who allegedly died while in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Minna.
