The G-100, a coalition of opposition political parties advocating for a single presidential candidate to contest the 2027 presidential election, has announced plans to admit more parties into its fold.
The coalition currently comprises the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Social Democratic Party (SDP), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a statement issued by Salihu Lukman, the G-100 said several other opposition parties had expressed interest in joining the coalition.
According to Lukman, the expansion is intended to strengthen the opposition’s efforts to present a united front in the 2027 presidential election.

The statement said the Central Leadership Committee of the coalition, established at the August 31 Summit of Opposition Political Parties, had reviewed the communiqué from the summit and commenced work on translating its resolutions into a practical action plan.
The committee also agreed on operational principles designed to ensure equal opportunity and mutual respect among participating parties.
One of the resolutions was that the responsibility of chairing coalition meetings would rotate among the parties in alphabetical order.

The statement explained that the arrangement was adopted because “a coalition founded upon equality must demonstrate equality in its own conduct.”
The Central Leadership Committee also reviewed plans for operationalising the Publicity Committee, Legal Committee and five Working Groups established at the summit.
“All parties agreed to submit names of their nominees to the Secretariat by the close of work on Friday, September 18, 2026,” the statement said.
It added that the committees and working groups are expected to commence operations during the week of September 21 to 27, 2026.
The coalition leadership further resolved to expand its membership to accommodate other opposition parties that have indicated interest in participating in the initiative.
The Central Leadership Committee is scheduled to reconvene on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, with members agreeing to hold regular meetings as they work towards their stated objective of uniting opposition parties and presenting a common front in the 2027 elections.
