LAFIA — The immediate past Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Alhaji Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, has appealed to aggrieved members who have defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to other political parties to reconsider their decision and return to the ruling party.
Balarabe made the appeal on Tuesday while speaking with newsmen in Lafia, stressing the need for unity and reconciliation among APC members ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to him, members who contributed to building the party should not abandon it at a critical time.
He said, “You cannot leave the house you have built for another person to inherit. APC is our home, it is our party, and our victory is assured by the will of Allah.”

The former Speaker’s appeal followed the recent resignation of the immediate past Chairman of Toto Local Government Area, Aliyu Abdullahi, from the APC.
The former council chairman announced his resignation from the party on September 14, a development that has generated reactions among APC stakeholders in the area.
Reacting to the development, Balarabe urged party members in Toto Local Government Area to remain calm and avoid actions capable of deepening existing disagreements.

He also appealed to Aliyu Abdullahi to set aside his grievances and embrace dialogue as a means of resolving whatever differences may exist within the party.
Balarabe further called on the former council chairman to withdraw his resignation and return to the APC.
“We cannot fold our hands and watch our party lose its members. We cannot fold our hands and allow our people to leave.
“In politics, everyone matters. The grassroots matter because politics is local. This is a fact,” he said.
The former Speaker maintained that the APC’s prospects in Toto Local Government Area ahead of the 2027 elections would depend significantly on unity, reconciliation and cooperation among party members.

He stressed that stakeholders must put their differences aside and work together to strengthen the party at the grassroots.
“Unity of purpose is paramount for the task ahead of us, and no matter what, we must unite our people to facilitate victory in 2027,” Balarabe added.
His call comes amid increasing political activities in Nasarawa State ahead of the 2027 general elections, with party leaders and political groups intensifying grassroots mobilization across the state.
