Bala Mohammed Mourns Bamanga Tukur, Says Nigeria Has Lost a Statesman

BAUCHI — Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former governor of the old Gongola State and former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji (Dr.) Bamanga Tukur.

Governor Mohammed described the death of the elder statesman as a monumental loss to Adamawa State and Nigeria, stressing that Tukur’s decades of public service and contributions to democratic governance would remain indelible in the nation’s history.

In a condolence message issued on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mukhtar Gidado, the governor said Tukur devoted a significant part of his life to serving the people and contributing to the development of Nigeria.

According to him, the late politician provided leadership and valuable counsel at critical moments in the country’s political history, earning widespread respect for his experience, wisdom, humility and commitment to public service.

“The death of Alhaji (Dr.) Bamanga Tukur is a great loss not only to his immediate family but also to the people of Adamawa State and Nigeria as a whole.

“He was a statesman of considerable experience and wisdom, whose contributions to public service and democratic politics will continue to be remembered,” Governor Mohammed said.

The Bauchi governor commiserated with Tukur’s immediate family, associates and political colleagues, as well as the Adamawa State Government and the people of the state.

He said the Bauchi State Government and the people of the state shared in the grief of the deceased’s family during the difficult period.

Governor Mohammed further urged the family to draw strength from the remarkable legacy of service left behind by the late elder statesman.

He prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive Tukur’s shortcomings, reward his good deeds and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.

The governor also prayed for strength, comfort and fortitude for the deceased’s family, loved ones and all those mourning his passing, while asking Allah to grant the late statesman eternal rest.

Bamanga Tukur was a prominent Nigerian politician and administrator who served as governor of the old Gongola State and later became National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, one of Nigeria’s major political parties.

His death has continued to generate tributes from political leaders and associates who have acknowledged his long years of service and influence in Nigeria’s political history.
