OSOGBO — Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has travelled out of the country for a vacation following the conclusion of the governorship election in the state.
Adeleke left Nigeria for Europe on Sunday as part of what his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, described as a short break to enable the governor to refresh and prepare for continued service to the people of Osun State.
In a statement, Rasheed said Adeleke would also use the trip to undergo medical checks in the United Kingdom.
He, however, did not disclose how long the governor would remain outside the state.
According to the spokesperson, Adeleke is also expected to visit other destinations during the trip, with details of those destinations to be announced later.
“I am taking a short break to refresh and get further prepared to serve the good people of Osun State,” Adeleke was quoted as saying.
Adeleke Orders Probe Into Koka Ilase Kingship Crisis
Meanwhile, the governor has ordered an investigation into the kingship crisis in Koka Ilase following reports that another monarch had been appointed in the town.

Adeleke directed the Osun State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to investigate the circumstances surrounding the reported appointment and establish whether the development complied with the relevant laws and traditional processes.
The ministry was also instructed to review the situation and ensure compliance with existing chieftaincy laws, regulations and customs.
“I read of another king appointed outside the one on the stool. The ministry is hereby directed to look into the dispute and issue a report to set the records straight,” the governor said.
Adeleke appealed to all stakeholders in the community to remain calm and peaceful while the ministry carries out its investigation.
“I, however, urge all stakeholders to remain peaceful as the ministry does the needful. Kingship is governed by extant laws and regulations, and the government will stand by the law and tradition of our people,” he added.

The governor’s directive is expected to clarify the circumstances surrounding the reported emergence of another monarch and determine the appropriate action in accordance with Osun State’s chieftaincy laws and traditions.
