British politician of Nigerian descent, Kemi Badenoch, has emerged as the most popular political party leader in the United Kingdom, according to a recent opinion poll conducted by research group More in Common.
Badenoch, who currently leads the Conservative Party, recorded a notable improvement in her net approval rating, rising from minus 32 prior to her party’s October conference to minus nine in the latest survey. This places her ahead of several prominent political figures across the UK.
The poll ranked Reform UK leader Nigel Farage at minus 16, Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey at minus 11, and Green Party co-leader Zack Polanski also at minus 16. Prime Minister Keir Starmer trailed the list with the lowest rating of minus 42.
Analysts suggest that Badenoch’s growing popularity is closely tied to her increasing visibility and more assertive political engagement in recent months. Once relatively unknown among sections of the electorate, she is now gaining recognition across a broader audience.

Luke Tryl, UK Director of More in Common, noted the shift in public awareness. “Whereas last summer we’d run whole focus groups where no one would know who Kemi was, she is often now brought up spontaneously, and even some of those who would never vote Tory say they admire her conviction and straightforwardness,” he said.
Despite Badenoch’s improved personal ratings, the poll indicates that this surge in popularity has not yet translated into increased overall support for the Conservative Party, which continues to face broader political challenges.
