Residents of Special Site in Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State were thrown into grief and outrage on Thursday after the bodies of aborted twins were discovered inside a polythene bag at a refuse dump in the area.
The disturbing discovery, which has left the community shaken, involved two foetuses — a male and a female — believed to be over five months old.
The remains were reportedly found behind the residence of a commercial driver, Enman Danladi, after a local farmer noticed a dog persistently sniffing around a suspicious polythene bag abandoned at the dump site.
Speaking on the incident, Danladi said the farmer became alarmed after seeing flies swarming around the bag and decided to chase the dog away several times before opening it.
“He drove the dog away repeatedly before checking what was inside the bag. That was when he discovered the aborted twins and immediately rushed to inform me,” Danladi recounted.
According to him, the horrifying news quickly spread through the area, drawing emotional reactions from residents.
Danladi said he later mobilised about eight neighbours, who came together to dig a small grave at the scene and give the foetuses a burial.
The discovery reportedly sparked anger among the men in the area, many of whom openly condemned and cursed whoever was responsible for the act.

Women in the neighbourhood were said to have broken down in tears, with one woman who had reportedly battled infertility crying uncontrollably over the incident.
“It was a heartbreaking sight. Everyone was deeply touched, especially the women,” a resident said.
When asked whether there were any possible suspects, Danladi said no one in the neighbourhood had been linked to the act.
“We do not suspect anyone around here. Usually, people who do this kind of thing come from outside the area so they cannot be easily traced,” he said.
The incident has since sparked widespread concern among residents, many of whom are calling for greater vigilance and urgent action from authorities to prevent such disturbing occurrences in the future.
As of the time of filing this report, no official statement had been issued by security agencies or health authorities regarding the incident.
The shocking discovery has once again raised serious questions about unsafe abortions and the inhumane disposal of foetuses, as residents continue to grapple with the emotional aftermath.
