Residents of Bargaja community in Isa Local Government Area of Sokoto State have been thrown into fear and uncertainty following a fresh wave of attacks linked to notorious terror leader, Bello Turji.
The 32-year-old kingpin, who has been on the radar of the Nigerian Army with a ₦5 million bounty placed on his head, reportedly led armed fighters in an attack on the agrarian community in the early hours of Sunday, triggering mass panic and displacement.
Residents Flee in Fear
A disturbing video circulating online showed hundreds of women and children scrambling to board a truck with their belongings as they fled the town. The residents said they were escaping repeated attacks and threats allegedly issued by Turji’s group, warning them to vacate the area or face death.
Eyewitness accounts revealed that the attackers stormed the village around 1:30 a.m., forcing many residents to flee to safer areas, including Sokoto metropolis and nearby communities.

According to security analyst Bashiru Altine Giyawa, local vigilante groups engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle in an attempt to defend the community.
However, two vigilantes — Umaru Biri and Garba Mumminu — were killed during the confrontation.
