Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and former governor Olusegun Mimiko are among 225 prominent figures named in the Ondo State All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The council is expected to coordinate grassroots mobilization and strengthen support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid, alongside other APC candidates contesting various elective positions.
Other notable members include Deputy Governor Olaide Adelami, Taiwo Oyedele, Olamide Oladiji, Jide Ipinsagba and Adeniyi Adegbonmire.
In a statement announcing the council, Ondo State APC Chairman, Kolawole Babatunde, said the body brings together political leaders, party stakeholders, women and youth leaders, support groups and grassroots mobilisers.
According to him, the council will work towards strengthening the party’s presence across the state’s 18 local government areas and advancing the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Meanwhile, the APC has also intensified its nationwide women mobilization strategy ahead of the 2027 elections.
First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, inaugurated the APC Presidential Women Campaign Council in Abuja, bringing together various women support groups backing President Tinubu under a unified APC campaign structure.
Speaking at the inauguration, Mrs Tinubu said the campaign would support APC candidates from the presidential level to the governorship, National Assembly and State Assembly.
She announced plans for six zonal mega rallies, state-level campaigns and a grand finale in Abuja, with herself and the wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima, expected to participate in the zonal campaigns.
The First Lady urged Nigerian women to return to their communities and communicate what she described as the achievements of the Tinubu administration, including economic reforms, agricultural support and the Nigerian Education Loan Fund initiative.
APC National Women Leader, Dr Mary Alile Idele, said the campaign would move beyond political mobilization by taking the administration’s programmes directly to homes, markets and communities.
The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, also called for unity among APC women, while Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs, Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, challenged each participant to mobilize at least 100 women for the party.
The Director-General of the Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, described the gathering as evidence of the women’s readiness to drive the APC’s 2027 campaign.
The Nigeria Governors’ Spouses Forum also pledged the participation of governors’ wives in the nationwide campaign.
With the Ondo State council now constituted and the national women’s campaign machinery inaugurated, the APC is positioning its grassroots mobilization structures ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
