The Rivers State Police Command says it has rescued a kidnap victim and arrested two suspected members of a six-man kidnapping syndicate operating in parts of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Assistant Superintendent of Police Blessing Agabe, disclosed this in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Monday.
According to Agabe, the victim, identified as Hassan, was abducted on September 6, 2026, in the vicinity of Fidelity Bank in the Garrison area of Port Harcourt.

The victim was reportedly taken at gunpoint to Igbugulu Waterside in Borokiri, where he was held captive for three days.
Police said the kidnappers eventually released Hassan after his relatives paid a ransom of ₦10.3 million.
Following information received by the command, operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit, VCRU-AKU, launched an intelligence-led operation which led to the arrest of two suspected members of the gang.
Preliminary investigations, according to the police, showed that the suspects allegedly confessed to their involvement in the kidnapping and disclosed that the syndicate comprises six members.

The suspects also reportedly revealed that the gang used a white minibus, popularly known as a Keke bus, during the operation.
The Rivers State Police Command said efforts have been intensified to apprehend the remaining members of the syndicate, who are currently at large, and bring them to justice.
The command further assured residents that security operatives would continue to intensify intelligence-led operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks across the state.
