Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has been conferred with the traditional title of Ugoeze of Anambra in recognition of her contributions to national development and support for her husband, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The title was bestowed on the First Lady on Thursday by the Chairman of the Anambra State Traditional Rulers’ Council, HRM Igwe Chidubem Iweka, during her first official visit to the state.
Mrs Tinubu was in Anambra to flag off the National Community Food Bank Programme, an initiative aimed at addressing child malnutrition across the South-East and other parts of the country.
With the Anambra flag-off, the First Lady said the intervention had now been rolled out across all six geopolitical zones, describing the achievement as a major milestone for the Renewed Hope Initiative.
Speaking at the event, Senator Tinubu stressed the need for Nigerians to put political differences aside and work together to address the challenges confronting the country.
Addressing residents who gathered at the Alex Ekwueme Square to welcome her, she expressed optimism about the future of Nigerian children, saying the nationwide rollout of the programme demonstrates that there is hope for the younger generation.
She also called for renewed commitment at all levels of government and society to improve child nutrition, particularly in the South-East.

The First Lady commended Anambra State Governor, Professor Charles Soludo, and his wife for their policies and programmes, which she said demonstrate a progressive approach to governance and development.
During the visit, Mrs Tinubu also inaugurated a new RHI/TETFUND ICT Experience Centre at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko.
Interacting with students at one of the institution’s lecture theatres, she encouraged them to explore constructive ways of using technology, particularly artificial intelligence, to solve problems and create opportunities.
She also urged the students to join the Environment Society and contribute practical ideas toward addressing environmental challenges.
According to the First Lady, expanding digital learning opportunities remains a priority of the Renewed Hope Initiative, with technology playing an increasingly important role in education and national development.
Mrs Tinubu also flagged off the distribution of empowerment items provided by the Anambra State Government to 5,000 beneficiaries.

At the event, she announced a ₦100,000 financial grant for each beneficiary, describing the support as an additional intervention to strengthen the empowerment programme.
