Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Peter Obi, on Tuesday arrived in Jos, Plateau State, ahead of a solidarity visit to Mangu Local Government Area following the recent deadly attacks on communities in the area.
Obi arrived at the Yakubu Gowon Airport in Heipang, where he was received by Plateau State executives and chieftains of the NDC, alongside party supporters and other stakeholders.
The visit is aimed at identifying with victims and families affected by the recent violence, which reportedly claimed several lives, left others injured and resulted in the destruction of properties.
Obi is expected to proceed to Mangu, where he will assess the situation on the ground and engage with victims, survivors, community leaders and other stakeholders affected by the attacks.

During the visit, the NDC presidential candidate is expected to commiserate with families who lost loved ones and offer words of encouragement to residents still struggling to recover from the devastating incident.
He is also expected to hear firsthand accounts from survivors and community leaders about the circumstances surrounding the attacks, as well as the security challenges confronting communities in the area.
The visit comes amid growing concerns over recurring attacks and killings in parts of Plateau State, with residents and stakeholders continuing to call for urgent and sustainable measures to protect lives and property.
Obi is expected to use the visit to advocate stronger security measures and sustained government support for victims of violent attacks, while urging relevant authorities to take decisive action to end the cycle of killings, displacement and destruction in vulnerable communities.
The former Anambra State governor has consistently spoken against insecurity in Nigeria and has called for greater attention to the protection of citizens, particularly communities affected by violent conflicts.
His visit to Mangu is expected to further draw national attention to the plight of affected residents and the broader security situation in Plateau State.
