In a remarkable display of interfaith harmony, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kwara State chapter, on Monday held special prayers in honor of Senator Saliu Mustapha, representing Kwara Central, in appreciation of his continued support for the Christian community.

The prayers were part of CAN’s Easter Picnic Programme held at Budo Jesu in Ilorin, where hundreds of Christian faithful gathered to celebrate the Easter season and recognize individuals who have contributed to the growth and welfare of the community.

Addressing attendees at the event, the Kwara State Chairman of CAN, Rev. Sunday Timothy Adewole, lauded Senator Mustapha for his consistent goodwill and commitment to fostering religious unity in the state. He described the senator’s gestures as a shining example of peaceful coexistence and mutual respect among people of different faiths.

Adewole disclosed that Mustapha supported the Easter celebration with hundreds of packs of customized table water, assorted drinks, and fuel to aid transportation for participants. He noted that the intervention was both timely and impactful, particularly as it came from a Muslim lawmaker.

“This kind of support strengthens the bond between religious communities and promotes unity in our state,” he said.

The spiritual highlight of the event featured special prayers led by the founder of Resolution Church of Christ, M. S. Olobatoke, who prayed for divine protection, prosperity, and greater elevation for Senator Mustapha and other benefactors.

Other prominent individuals who were recognized and prayed for during the programme included Oluwole Awotuyi of Tuyil Pharmaceuticals, Olatunde Oladokun of SEAP Holdings Company Ltd, and Saka Eletu, all acknowledged for their contributions to the Christian community.

Senator Mustapha, who currently serves as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agricultural Production Services and Rural Development, continues to gain political prominence in Kwara State. He is widely regarded as a strong contender in the state’s 2027 governorship race.

The event not only celebrated the Easter season but also underscored the importance of unity, generosity, and peaceful coexistence among diverse religious groups in Kwara State.
