CNN viewers were met with a surprise announcement Monday morning as Rahel Solomon, the anchor of the network’s Early Start, revealed live on air that she will be leaving the network at the end of the week.
During the broadcast, Solomon addressed viewers directly, saying, “Now, to some personal news, I have decided that this will be my last week at CNN.” She confirmed that her final show is scheduled for Friday, March 27, and hinted that more details about her next steps will be shared in the near future.
Solomon has been a prominent face on CNN’s 5 a.m. ET program, which covers overnight breaking news and stories shaping the day ahead. The show, launched roughly a year ago, is also simulcast on CNN International, extending her reach to a global audience. In addition to anchoring, Solomon has reported extensively on business and economic issues, from inflation trends to the job market.

Reflecting on her time at the network, Solomon expressed gratitude for her colleagues and the opportunities she’s had, saying, “It has been such an honor, truly, to serve as a business correspondent for CNN. I have covered everything from inflation to the job market and everything in between.” She also praised the Early Start team, noting she was “so proud to have worked alongside” them.
Solomon joined CNN in 2022 after previously reporting for CNBC and brings a strong background in finance and journalism, having studied finance at St. John’s University and earned a master’s degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.
A CNN spokesperson said the network is “grateful to Rahel for all her contributions to CNN over the past four years and are supportive of her decision. We wish her all the best in her next chapter.” No successor for Early Start has been announced.
Concluding her announcement, Solomon told viewers, “This is truly not goodbye, but see you soon.” She will remain on air through the week for her final broadcasts.
