The Abia State Police Command has arraigned Lambert Evans Uzoma over the alleged physical abuse of his son, Master Ugonna Uzoma.
The suspect was charged to court after the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Umuahia, concluded investigations into the case.
According to the Police Command, Uzoma was remanded in correctional custody following his arraignment, while the victim was handed over to the Abia State Ministry of Women Affairs for medical attention, rehabilitation, proper care and continued protection.
Uzoma, who resides at No. 2B Nwokocha Close, off Udeagbala Road, Abayi, Aba, was reportedly arrested on the orders of the Commissioner of Police, Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, after a video of the alleged abuse went viral on social media.

The video allegedly showed the young boy tied with a rope and subjected to severe flogging, leaving him injured. It also allegedly showed the child stripped naked and left exposed under the scorching sun.
The Police Command said the victim remains in the custody of the Abia State Ministry of Women Affairs, where he is receiving appropriate care and protection.
The case is expected to proceed through the courts as the authorities continue efforts to safeguard the welfare of the child.
