Professor Charles Soludo has officially been sworn in for a second term as Governor of Anambra State.
The inauguration ceremony took place on Tuesday at the newly renovated Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, drawing a large crowd and a host of prominent political figures from across Nigeria.
Soludo was sworn in alongside his deputy, Dr. Onyeka Ibezim, marking the beginning of a fresh four-year term in office.
Representing the Federal Government at the event was Vice President Kashim Shettima. Also in attendance were former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, alongside former Commonwealth Secretary-General Emeka Anyaoku.

Other dignitaries present included Siminalayi Fubara and several state governors, highlighting the national significance of the event.
Soludo’s re-election followed a landslide victory in the November 8, 2025 governorship election, conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
According to official results, Soludo secured 422,664 votes, defeating his closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress, who garnered 99,445 votes. The Young Progressives Party candidate, Paul Chukwuma, came third with 37,753 votes.

In a decisive show of dominance, Soludo swept all 21 local government areas in the state.
Out of 2,788,864 registered voters, 598,229 were accredited, with 595,298 votes cast and 11,244 rejected ballots recorded.
Soludo’s second-term inauguration is expected to usher in a renewed focus on governance, infrastructure development, and economic transformation in Anambra State.
